Design that respects the press

For over two decades I have designed brand identities, book covers and packaging, and prepared and imposed documents for print.

That last part shapes everything I do. I spent years in prepress and print production before going independent, so I design backwards: from the press, the paper and the dieline toward the screen. It is why my clients rarely hear the sentence "the printer says it can’t be done."

I have worked, learned and gained experience in a range of print shops and small design and print studios, and as a freelancer I have worked with clients from all over the world, from America through Europe and Asia to Australia.

I work in CorelDRAW, Illustrator and InDesign every day, long enough that I eventually built a vector editor of my own. When I am not designing, I record tutorials on design and print production for my YouTube and TikTok channels.

The toolset

  • Adobe Illustrator vector work and collaboration with agencies and other designers
  • Adobe InDesign books, catalogues and every multi-page job
  • Adobe Photoshop image editing, composites and preparing photography for print
  • CorelDRAW my first language: identities, layouts and print work since the beginning

I built my own vector editor

JVector is a free, open-source vector graphics editor that runs in your browser, a single HTML file with real bézier tools, a node editor, boolean operations and layers. No install, no account, no subscription.

I built it because I believe a designer should understand their tools down to the curve mathematics. It is also my proof of craft: when someone builds the pen tool, you can trust them with your brand’s paths.

I share what the print floor taught me: practical tutorials on graphic design, vector techniques and preparing files that come off the press exactly as designed.
